Programs in Workforce Readiness help young people meet the workforce challenges of tomorrow, they need safe spaces, positive mentorship and work experiences today. At Boys & Girls Clubs, we allow kids and teens to:

 

  • Explore their interests and passions
  • Develop their employability skills
  • Apply their knowledge to real-world work experiences

St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP)

High School Sophomores & Juniors

SLIP’s mission is to provide hope and opportunity for high school students in the St. Louis region through paid summer internships, intensive employability training, and year-round college and career planning, in partnership with businesses and community organizations, and to build the St. Louis community by developing motivated, well-trained, and talented future employees.

SLIP’s Pre-Internship Component

High School Freshmen

The Pre Internship Component (PIC) is a challenging five-week development program that offers current ninth graders, specific skills training that will help expand their personal development, post-secondary and career opportunities. Participants will engage in personal development, post-secondary readiness, and career exploration sessions as well as complete computer literacy classes.

Junior Staff Development Program

Ages 12-18​

Hands-on career training including volunteering, mock interviews, and career fairs. Successful participants are eligible to apply for paid positions at the Club.​

Career Launch Program

Ages 13-18​

Encourages members to develop their skills and interests, explore careers, make positive educational decisions and prepare to join the nation’s workforce.​

diplomas 2 Degrees

Ages 13-18

Diplomas 2 Degrees encourages teens to explore their interests and potential careers, helps them map the steps to gaining entry to a postsecondary institution that meets their needs and develops the skills and attributes necessary to succeed after high school.

Clubhouse to Careers/College (C2C) Pathways

Ages 15‐19

The Clubhouse to Career/College (C2C) Pathways Program provides teen members with the opportunity to earn money while developing key technical, professional, and life skills. Participants receive personalized coaching and mentorship, while deepening their knowledge of career opportunities in STEAM that they apply to real-world settings via team projects and paid summer internships.
