Monsanto Fund Awards $25,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis
Grant will support STRIDE Academy Program

St. Louis – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis announced today the award of a $25,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund to support its Stride Academy Program.

The program, designed for youth grades K – 12th, addresses critical learning gaps identified through pre and post-tests. The use of STRIDE Academy allows for continuous assessment, individualized intervention, summer learning loss prevention, blended face-to-face and technology-based learning, direct instruction, and guided practice. A customized learning plan of foundational skill-building and enrichment will be created to promote learning. The gaming and peer competition components of the software is a fun way to develop their skills. With STRIDE Academy, Boys & Girls Club staff can continually check member mastery with up-to-the minute feedback and insight via real-time data reports and dashboards.

Club member, Chantelle R., age 15 stated of the new program, “I thought this was another test but if it is they should all be like this.” And, member Brianna B., age 7 adds, “I can do this all day! I didn’t know I was so good at it!”

For nearly 50 years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis has provided after school, teen, summer and sports programs to youth ages 6-18. As part of membership, youth also benefit from free on-site dental and vision care. Boys & Girls Clubs proven youth development programs, such as Stride Academy, empower the kids we serve to make positive choices that will lead them to successful adulthood and civic engagement and give them a great future.
