March 2015 – Youth of the Month
Georshe R. is 15 years old and has been a member of the Club for 7 months. She participates in Smart Girls, Jr Staff Training and Career Launch. Her favorite program area is the Roosevelt Teen Center. She likes that there’s an area for her and the rest of the members at Roosevelt to get together at school away from the other students where they can have serious talks about their future. She also has started playing chess and is the reigning champ in the Roosevelt Teen Center. Georshe was chosen because of her maturity and eagerness to succeed. She is ranked 7th in her class and has just finished up orientation at the zoo and will begin working there full time in the summer. Georshe said even though she has always had good grades she found it difficult to make friends since she started high school but since becoming part of the Boys and Girls Club she has become as popular as she has ever been. Georshe says she has worked on developing her people skills by participating in Smart Girls and Junior staff training.
